Heterosexual rules are a fucking mess anyway. Relationship gender roles are trash and “traditional” relationships are usually super toxic from my experience. Being gay shouldn’t be seen as a negative when it comes to relationships: it should be seen as freedom from constraints. We don’t have to follow the typical rules because we’re already out of the norm anyway, and a lot of heterosexual couples in this modern day are starting to dismantle these traditional rules anyway (and good for them!). 

We have completely different dynamics. I had a discussion with a straight friend about how they feel super uncomfortable with the ideas of threesomes or three way relationships and she asked me how I felt and I told her it wasn’t really the same since in a gay relationship between two gay people you find virtually the same things attractive so there isn’t an automatic imbalance of power. The same applies to “who does what.” I don’t know how other gay couples do it, but Buck and I divide the needs of our relationships into who has the time to do it when it’s needed and who is better at it: I’m great at cleaning and organizing, he’s great at cooking, etc. We both work, we both hustle, we both take equal amounts of work to make our relationship function.
